Turism&Travel : Utah Valley expecting fall season to surpass previous years

Friday 19 August 2011

PROVO, Utah - The Utah Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau (UVCVB), the official destination marketing organization for Utah County, forecasts another profitable autumn season as tourists prepare to visit Utah for fall colors and other harvest attractions.

"Utah's impressive display of fall foliage, which colorfully carpets our mountain ranges, entices both Utah residents and out-of-state visitors to spend more time outdoors and visit the painted peaks throughout our state," said Joel Racker, President and CEO of the UVCVB. "This year brought an increased amount of moisture to the mountains and we are eager to see how that may boost the brilliance of this year's colors."

Utah Valley has been nationally recognized for its fall colors by such national features as MSN.com's Fall Foliage Smackdown. With this nationwide popularity, many Utah Valley venues provide additional outdoor events and activities for visitors who come to enjoy the scenery.

"The brilliant fall foliage amid the splendor of Mount Timpanogos provides a beautiful backdrop for events at Sundance, such as our 15th annual Harvest Market and Scenic Lift Rides, that draw a wealth of visitors to our Valley from across the globe," said Chad Linebaugh, General Manager of the Sundance Resort.

Other popular Utah Valley fall events include the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, Cornbelly's Corn Maze and Pumpkin Fest at Thanksgiving Point, BYU Football, and blue ribbon fly-fishing on the Provo River. Popular scenic drives include the Alpine Loop Scenic Backway, Provo Canyon Scenic Byway and Nebo Loop National Scenic Byway which Timpanogos Harley-Davidson schedules a group motorcycle ride on each year.

"Utah is the most beautiful place to ride in the whole world because you can go from the mountain tops to the desert floor in half an hour," said Rick Story, General Manager for Timpanogos Harley-Davidson. "Our group ride over Nebo Loop is a great way to wrap up an incredible riding season in Utah and provides Harley riders with a front-row seat to see the fall colors at their peak."

Utah Valley's fall colors season runs from September to October. For all inquiries about fall festivals, hotel accommodations, or to see videos of other fall color events in Utah Valley, visit www.UtahValley.com/fallcolors
