Turism&Travel : Hertz car rental gets new president

Formerly, Mr. Taride served as president, Hertz Europe. His previous role has been expanded to head up the company's Asia and Pacific car rental and leasing businesses in addition to those in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Mr. Taride will also be responsible for creating new joint business opportunities with the car rental and equipment rental operations in the Hertz International region. Now in his thirtieth year with Hertz, Mr. Taride is based at the Hertz International headquarters in Uxbridge (London), Great Britain.

Mark P. Frissora, chairman and chief executive officer, said: "Michel's ability to consistently deliver strong financial results and his passion for customer service, innovation, and team building have been instrumental in driving the many successes of Hertz in Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Michel has extensive experience and expertise in operations, sales, and marketing, as well as franchise and travel industry partnership development. These will be important leadership assets for us as we grow our international business, particularly in emerging markets such as Asia, the Pacific Rim, and the Middle East."

Mr. Taride's industry associations include advisory board member for The Global Travel & Tourism Partnership, a multi-country educational program to introduce students in developing economies to career opportunities in travel and tourism. Mr. Taride is also a member of the World Economic Forum's SlimCity Initiative, an exchange between cities and the private sector to support action on resource efficiency in cities.

Michel Taride served as president, Hertz Europe Limited from January 2004 until November 2009 and as executive vice president and president, Hertz Europe Limited, of Hertz Holdings since June 2006. Prior to then, Mr. Taride served as vice president and president, Hertz Europe Limited, from January 2003 until December 2003. From April 2000 until December 2002, he served as vice president and general manager, Rent-a-Car, Hertz Europe Limited. From July 1998 to March 2000, he was general manager, Rent-a-Car France and HERC Europe. Previously, he served in various other operating positions in Europe from 1980 to 1983 and from 1985 to 1998.
