Turism&Travel : OASIS seeks growth in home-based host market

Tuesday 15 February 2011

Independent home-based agents looking for a home should check out OASIS (Outside Agents Sales Integration System), a relatively new entry among host agencies.

Kelly Bergin, OASIS' vice president of business development, told Travel Agent that Boca Raton, Florida-based OASIS has grown to several hundred agents since the host's startup in January 2009.

"In 2011, we want to double this growth and believe we have a business model that will attract – and reward — professional agents. We have targeted experienced agents – six months minimum — as our key market," Bergin said. "Our new turnkey program has allowed us to double our membership in less than a year, and we rolled out new membership plans last month. We are competitive and building a strong agent base for growth," Bergin said.

OASIS agents saw a preview of the new program in November at OASIS' 1st Annual Sales Meeting, which was held at the Las Vegas MGM Grand Hotel. The meeting took place a day prior to Signature Travel Network's 2010 Sales Meeting & Tradeshow.

"Our new turnkey OASIS Pro and Elite plans will give OASIS agents the tools they need to not only retain the clients they have, but to find new clients as well," Bergin said.

The new plans include customized websites, integrated email marketing systems, and an agent blog.

OASIS emerged in January, 2009 as a division of 24-year-old travel agency Smart Travel Group, Ltd. Headquartered in Boca Raton, Smart Travel was formed in 1987 as Palm Coast Travel, a small brick-and-mortar agency by CEO Lee Smolinski. Today the company has expanded to be one of the leading online cruise agencies in the nation.

Bergin said OASIS offered a unique hosting program. It is free to join and pays all agents 100 percent commission. Agents pay a booking fee depending on the amount of commission. The three plans include monthly Basic (US$29) Pro (US$59), and Elite (US$79)

"Our agents love knowing that on a US$1,000 commission, they still only pay US$29. That's why our program added over 100 agents in 2010," said Lisa Baron, OASIS sales and marketing Manager. "When people compare, they realize we have the most affordable hosting program in the industry today."

As an example, the Elite program includes several features: Free to Join, 100 percent Commission, Free ClientBase (CRM & Invoice System), Lead Program, E & O Insurance, Use of Signature Travel Network Intranet, 1 Booking Fee Waived per month (US$29 value), Professional Branded Website with Signature content, Touchbase e-Greeting Card Marketing System, and Email Marketing Program with Website Integration.

The affiliation with Signature Travel Network is a critical asset, according to Bergin. Elite members gain access to many of Signature's programs, including hotel and cruise programs. This includes TRAMS customer relationship management (CRM) system.

“Our web-based ClientBase technology organizes client information, tracks bookings, invoices, and is the backbone of the Email and eGreeting card marketing," Bergin said.

Other technology includes the ability to research and book reservations with multiple web-based tools, such as Signature Travel, Sabre Cruise, and VAX.

The agency is a full-service travel agency. It is a member of Signature Travel Network, IATAN, NACTA, CLIA, ASTA, and the Better Business Bureau.
