Wednesday 15 June 2011

LAS VEGAS, Nev.
- Life is short and summer is shorter, which is why millions of visitors every year celebrate the solstice under the sun in Las Vegas. With the Fourth of July holiday just around the corner, "The Entertainment Capital of the World" offers up the hottest DJs, exciting daylife/nightlife culture, and world-class shows to help celebrate our country's independence.

"Las Vegas is a unique place year round, but the summer season really defines the destination for leisure travel," said Cathy Tull, senior vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). "The destination has invested significantly in creating a vibrant culture of daylife and nightlife that is unlike any other in the world."

Las Vegas is the Premier Destination for Warm-Weather Travel:

With more than 37 million visitors annually, Las Vegas has experienced increased visitor volume driven by an electrifying line-up of special events at an exceptional value. Forecasted numbers during Memorial weekend this year, show 311,000 tourists celebrated in Vegas, an increase of 2% from last year. In addition, the holiday weekend saw an estimated 2.1% increase in non-gaming revenue, at $186.2 million in 2011.

Last summer, Las Vegas hosted more than 12.9 million visitors – resulting in nearly $8.3 billion in revenue for the destination. "Nowhere is the pool and entertainment culture more celebrated than in Las Vegas where our world-class resorts offer lavish amenities that millions of visitors enjoy each year," Tull said.

New Experiences add Sizzle this Summer:

Touted as the new hub for dance music, Las Vegas has a lineup of exciting DJs to heat up anyone's summer. The famous Vegas Strip plays host to the world's best spin artists, including Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, DJ Tiesto, Kaskade, David Guetta and Pete Tong.

New this summer, Marquee Dayclub and Nightclub at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas features the best of both day and evening entertainment. Marquee Dayclub features Grand Cabanas with individual infinity pools and boasts a multitude of three-story Bungalow Lofts, while the 62,000-square-foot nightclub has fifty-foot ceilings and an unparalleled multi-million-dollar sound stage designed to cater to any performer's whim.

Also opening this year, Nikki Beach Club Las Vegas brings the best of their South Beach, Marbella and St. Tropez-inspired designs to the newly renovated Tropicana Las Vegas. Guests enjoy an impressive blend of haute cuisine, exotic cocktails and sexy entertainment.

The newest club in Vegas, Gallery Nightclub at Planet Hollywood, fuses vintage gothic design with contemporary touches. Candlelit glass fireplaces scattered throughout the venue create a sexy and mysterious glow in the rooms. Also new this year, Chateau Nightclub & Gardens at Paris Las Vegas features a high energy nightclub and outdoor Parisian gardens with magnificent views of the Las Vegas Strip.

What's a party without entertainment? Making her return to "The Entertainment Capital of the World," Celine Dion is back at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Her new show features 31 musicians, consisting of orchestra and band, and includes her biggest hits performed with a stunning visual presentation. Seven-time Grammy Award-winning performer Gladys Knight began her special engagement at the newly transformed Tropicana Las Vegas in April. Knight showcases her fan favorites, such as "Midnight Train to Georgia," as well as newer hits including her December 2010 single "Settle." World-renowned singer, songwriter and performer Elton John will return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with an all-new show, "The Million Dollar Piano," beginning Sept. 28 for sixteen shows. On August 24, Rod Stewart begins a two-year residency also at The Colosseum.

What better way to bask under the summer rays than with electrifying entertainment to get the party started? The Beach Concert Series returns to Mandalay Bay this summer with a lineup of classic performances including The Beach Boys, The B-52's & The Human League, Chris Isaak Lost 80's Live and Peter Frampton. Experience vintage Vegas at the Fremont Street Experience, where this year's summer concert series features some of the best bands from the '80s. "Nina Blackwood's Absolutely '80s" includes such acts as Dale Bozzio & Missing Persons, ABC, Wang Chung and Loverboy.
